We are thrilled to announce that our founder, Jenni Turco, has been shortlisted as a finalist in the “Outstanding Contribution to the Profession” category in the 2024 Professional Adviser Women in Financial Advice Awards.

The winner’s announcement takes place on 6 November in London.

Women in Financial Advice Awards 2024 Finalist

Encouraged by female family members, Jenni began her early professional financial services career to assist women to become financially well established as well as people from
different ability groups and social and ethnic backgrounds.

The first English woman to qualify for 46 years of consecutive membership of the Million Dollar Round Table which is the premier global association for financial professionals. When Jenni founded her own financial advice firm, there were hardly any other women in the UK doing this. It was at the time when bank managers did not usually lend money or offer mortgages to women. The idea of arranging a mortgage for two women who wanted to live together in the 1970s was definitely not in the Lenders’ text books.

Perhaps the hardest task was to find other women in national organisations such as the Life Insurance Association and then to encourage other women to join. This was achieved by Jenni speaking on the subject at Regional meetings across the UK and on BBC Woman’s Hour. Commercial progress was made when the Bristol Business Ladies Club was founded in the 1980s, leading to Jenni being nominated for The Veuve Cliquot Woman of The Year Awards in the 1990s.

Jenni has her name inscribed six times in the 1970s from the “Man of the month” plaque that used to hang in the Bristol office of Property Growth Assurance – the only woman winner. It is on display as a reminder of the diversity progress being made. Our Corporate Chartered Financial Planner firm status encourages us to ensure we have an inclusive approach to employ people of all social and ethnic backgrounds.

52 years into Jenni’s career, she remains in a leadership role – a true pioneer.
